  • 1 June to 18 October: every Sunday afternoon from 1 pm to 5 pm
  • During school holidays – every day except Saturday from 1 pm to 5 pm. Last entrance at 4.10 pm.

The movieguide WITCHES is included in the admission price. Available in Dutch, English, French.

Pastor Jan Schatteman will accompany and host you from the basement to the attic, from the sitting room (salon) to the prisons, from the Knights ‘Hall to the pillory. During your visit, you will explore the the castle and learn all about the dramatic history of the witches of Laarne, who were condemned to die at the stake in 1607-1608.

Entrance fee:

  • Adults: 9 euros
  • Children and youngsters (aged 6-18 y): 6 euros
  • Children < 6 y: free entrance

Historical guided tours – Official guides who are specialized of the castle and its history will give you the complete and best adapted visit for your group : from the stately Knights’ Hall to the old food storage room, from the summer lounge to the kitchen, from the bedroom even to prison…  Visiting the Castle of Laarne is like going back in time. Each hall or room unveils a part of the castle’s history. And as icing on the cake, as the highlight of your visit, you will be able to admire the stunning silver collection, by far the most beautiful of the country.

Themed visits, exploring “women’s issues”  – Our local guides will bring you back into time. Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Castle women, chambermaids, cooks and laundresses. Women from all ages will drop by. What was the marriage age of girls in the middle ages? What has given rise to the image “a woman’s place is at the fireplace “? What is the relation between Hélène Fourment and Laarne?
Why was it a punishment reserved for women to be endorsed during the frenzied persecution of witches in the 16th and 17th centuries?
During your visit, our guides will help you to understand all those mysteries.

Visits for people with reduced mobility – Stone medieval castles and stairs, they inevitably belong together. The issue here for stairs is that they could pose a problem for people with reduced mobility. In order to give those visitors also the possibility not to miss out on this wonderful opportunity to experience the Castle at its best, we have worked out a full-fledged and interactive tour where only the ground floor and the garden are visited. (Fully accessible for wheelchair users).

Entrance fee:

  • Group visits with movie-guide: 9 euros pp
  • Guided tours: 7 euros pp + 50 euros for the guide (max. 20 pers. per guide)

If you wish, we can arrange coffee or a drink (before or after your visit), breakfast, coffee with the so called “witch’s pie”, or even a “witch’s beer” with snacks, sandwiches…

With a variety of dining options in the near vicinity and a gastronomic restaurant on the Castle domain itself, there is something for everyone’s taste!

Please note:      

  • During winter, it can get bitterly cold inside the castle;
  • Visits last more or less 1.5 hours, and there are a lot of stairs to climb.


Educational school visits

Possible every day of the week – after reservation


Especially designed for preschoolers, there is the educational package “Come on in !”.

Led by a guide, the preschoolers have the possibility to explore the Castle. In a casual manner and playful way they discover all the corners and edges, from the cellar to the attic.

We also offer educational visits for primary and secondary schools.

Entrance fee:

  • 3 euros per child/student (free of charge for teachers(*) + 50 euros for the guide (max. 15 children/students per guide)

(*) Reminder: For school groups 1 adult is admitted free for every 25 students.
